Part 1: Twelve Ideas for Sporty Dating Fun Under the Sun

by Grace Tzeng

It's getting close to the end of summer.  So enjoy the good weather on an awesome date! Here are some suggestions for sporty outdoor activities.

And in the next posting I'll suggest some non-sporty dates for those who want to relax in the sun.

Okay, I'm not an outdoorsy person.  From my non-dating experience of getting bug bites that got infected and lobster-colored sunburns, I'd advise you all to bring: lots of sunscreen, water to stay hydrated, and insect repellent with Deet.

Also guys, tell your date in advance to wear appropriate clothing and shoes.  You don't want her to wear high heels on a 3-mile hike.  Ouch!

Search these activities online to find places in your area.

One Third of One-Night Stands Lead to Long-Term Relationships

By Grace Tzeng

What shocked me most about the singles’ poll results in the USA Today article (written a few months ago) was that it said that 35% of one-night stands ended up being long-term relationships.
“Men, Women Flip the Script in Gender Expectation”

That’s scary; imagine shaking hands with a total stranger; then three hours later getting naked in front of him or her.  Creepy!

But apparently about a third of the people are jumping into bed.  After the sex, they begin dating and getting to know one another.

Brazen Couple in Restaurant Gets My Attention

By Grace Tzeng

Darn – if I knew I was going to write about the couple who was in the early stages of making-out, I would have studied them more.

A few nights ago my mom and I decided to have Italian food.  We got to the restaurant an hour before it closed.  There were people eating at five of the tables in the dining area.  And there were five or six people at the bar area with their backs toward the dining room.

This is the continuation of a two-part series.  Part one of my friend P.I.’s story was called P. I. And The Missing Jewelry.  The previous story dealt with how tormented he felt about a decision he had made concerning a woman he had met at a musical.  This is another one of his dating stories I’d like to share with you.

Dating Story: Part One -- P. I. And The Missing Jewelry

This is not P.I., but a representation of him. (Shutterstock)
A few months back my buddy, who lives on one of the Pacific Islands, contacted me and sought my advice about women.  We'll call him P.I.  He is Asian and in his late thirties.

As we spoke over the phone, he told me about an incident that happened the day before. I asked if I could interview him, and this is the first dating story.

V-Day Is Not D-Day

By Grace Tzeng

Since Valentine’s Day was yesterday, some of you without a sweetheart may have felt down about being single.

Or even if you do have a boyfriend or girlfriend or spouse, yesterday may not have been what you expected.

Believe me, I know how it feels.  Many years ago a guy I dated -- not a boyfriend -- told me two or three days after Valentine's Day that he didn't want to see me anymore.
